Vindicating Comprehensible Input: Practical Implications in the Language Acquisition Classroom - Dr. Pablo L. Martínez Torres (Edinumen USA).

In this dynamic session, educators will explore the transformative power of comprehensible input (CI) as a cornerstone of effective language acquisition. Grounded in research and classroom-tested strategies, this workshop reaffirms CI’s central role in fostering authentic communication, deepening linguistic proficiency, and supporting diverse learners across proficiency levels.

Participants will:

  • Examine the theoretical foundations and evolving discourse surrounding CI
  • Identify high-leverage CI strategies that promote engagement, retention, and spontaneous language use
  • Apply practical tools for designing CI-rich lessons aligned with ACTFL, AP, and global frameworks
  • Explore culturally responsive approaches that validate students’ identities while maximizing input
  • Reflect on common misconceptions and reframe CI as a rigorous, equity-driven instructional practice

Whether you're a seasoned CI advocate or newly curious about its classroom impact, this session offers actionable insights, collaborative reflection, and ready-to-use resources to elevate your language teaching practice.
