From 2014 to 2025, Dr. Martínez held the position of World Languages Curriculum and Foreign Exchange Specialist for Polk County Public Schools, where he spearheaded a district-wide shift from grammar-based and audiolingual approaches to performance-driven, proficiency-based instruction. His work introduced cutting-edge strategies—including comprehensible input, technology-enhanced learning, and CI-based programs for administrators—helping educators foster inclusive and engaging language environments. One of his most notable initiatives was launching a Spanish program for school leaders through the FLDOE Stronger Connection Grant, emphasizing language acquisition in the context of school safety and leadership.

He has been awarded the World Languages Supervisor of the Year in Florida twice, in 2017 and 2024, and has led advocacy efforts to protect world language standards, including resisting proposals that would replace language credits with computer coding and initiating statewide reviews of WL benchmarks.
In academia, Dr. Martínez directs multiple dissertation writing committees for the Second Language Research Ph.D. Program at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. His research focuses on leadership structures and principals’ instructional leadership in support of world language programs, bridging theory with practice in K–12 and higher education settings.

Beyond his leadership and research, Dr. Martínez remains deeply engaged in the profession as a keynote speaker, consultant, and freelance contributor to educational publications and textbook publishers. His lifelong commitment to multilingual education continues to have a lasting impact on classrooms, communities, and national standards for language learning.
